Central Food Group triumphs with a win at Retail Asia Awards 2024

Its brand Tops has positioned itself as a leading force in Thailand's evolving food retail landscape.

Tops, a supermarket chain under Central Food Group, won the Supermarket of the Year - Thailand category at the prestigious Retail Asia Awards 2024. Tops is a brand driving growth and sustainability in the country's food retail landscape.

In the past year, Tops has continued implementing strategic initiatives to enhance customer value and convenience. This commitment is reflected in the targeted expansion of nine new branches strategically opened across key provinces, increasing accessibility and meeting evolving consumer needs.

To further enhance convenience, Tops has also seen significant growth in its online offerings. Tops Prime, Thailand's first and only monthly subscription programme for online grocery shopping, has seen a staggering 37% monthly growth in membership. This programme not only offers convenience and cost savings for customers, but it has also translated to a significant sales boost, with Tops Prime members contributing to a 20% overall increase in customer sales.

Building on the commitment to customer convenience, Tops has further expanded its omnichannel experience. This allows customers to shop WHENEVER and WHEREVER they want through a growing number of platforms like TikTok, Shopee, and LINE Personal Shopper.

Further underlining its commitment to sustainability, Tops has also partnered with DHL Supply Chain Thailand to introduce electric delivery vehicles. This initiative aims to achieve a significant carbon footprint reduction of 13,335 tons over five years.

In addition to its electric vehicle initiative, Tops has also successfully provided over 5 million meals made from surplus food to local communities over the past 5 years. This initiative has resulted in a reduction of 3,000 tons of CO2, further aligning with Tops' mission to reduce food waste in its operations.

Tops' focus on strategic expansion, customer-centric programmes like Tops Prime and the omnichannel experience, and environmental initiatives like food waste management and electric vehicles for CO2 reduction, positions them as a leading innovator and sustainability leader in Thailand's food retail sector. This dedication to social responsibility further strengthens Tops' commitment to the communities they serve," the company said.
