Alibaba’s Tmall launches childcare consulting service

The service came in a tie-up with over 200 product specialists and 50 brands.

Alibaba Group’s business-to-consumer retail platform Tmall has launched a childcare consulting service for parents to conduct Q&A sessions with more than 50 childcare brands during the platform’s 6.18 shopping festival.

In a tie-up between more than 200 product specialists and 50 baby and childcare brands on Tmall, the platform allows parents to submit questions and comments about specific products to brands whilst shopping for their children.

Zi Yan from Tmall’s mother & baby business category noted that they have seen a surge in online consulting requests since the pandemic began, particularly in paediatrics.

Baby formula companies on the platform have also banded together as part of an online education session with more than 1,000 paediatricians available to answer queries during the shopping period, the company said.
