CJ products return to Coupang after 20-month hiatus
CJ CheilJedang halted sales of its products to Coupang in December 2022.
E-commerce company Coupang Inc. has resumed purchasing products from CJ CheilJedang Corp., ending a 20-month hiatus caused by a dispute over supply prices.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the disagreement, which began in December 2022, led CJ CheilJedang to halt the sale of its products on Coupang's platform. However, after extended negotiations, the two companies have reached an agreement to renew their partnership. A spokesperson for Coupang stated that the decision was made to enhance "business synergies and customer convenience."
In a separate statement, CJ CheilJedang confirmed the resumption of their business relationship, emphasising their commitment to better serving customers. The company noted that it will leverage various online channels, including Coupang, to make its products more accessible to consumers.
Whilst both companies declined to provide specific details about their new agreement on product supply prices, the partnership's renewal will see CJ's popular products like Bibigo frozen dumplings, pizzas, and fresh items such as bean curds and bean sprouts available on Coupang.
Additional items, including CJ's microwavable rice brand Hetbahn and other processed products, will be rolled out on the platform by the end of September.
