JD rolls out new business offering one-hour delivery
Products with the 'Shop Now' icon can be fulfilled by nearby physical stores within 3km.
JD.com and Dada Group jointly launched a new business dedicated to JD’s on-demand consumer retail section, looking to more easily connect with customers with products offering delivery within one hour, a press release revealed.
Positioned in the core of JD’s omnichannel operation, "Shop Now" is integrating the omnichannel abilities and resources from JD Retail and JDDJ, according to Huijian He, Vice President of JD.com and Dada Group.
Products with the “Shop Now” icon on JD.com’s app will support one-hour delivery and even delivery within minutes, fulfilled by nearby physical stores with a radius of 3 kilometres.
On-demand retail is gaining popularity and growing at a fast pace in China, JD noted. According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the market size of Chinese local retail O2O platforms in 2020 reached US$23B (RMB150b), and it is expected to soar as much as six-fold.
