Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper, Inc. to be become a subsidiary of Rakuten
Services under Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper will remain unaffected yet improved.
Rakuten Group, Inc. and Seiyu Co., Ltd. have signed an agreement to make Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rakuten Group.
Under the agreement, Rakuten will oversee the operations of Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper and its respective fulfillment centers. Meanwhile, Seiyu will be modified into a stand-alone online supermarket entity with shipments from its physical stores.
During the move, operations and services for Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper will remain unaffected, yet it will find room for improvements over its convenient online grocery features.
Established in April 2018, Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper is a joint venture of Rakuten and Seiyu offering fresh produce and prepared foods, to cater to the evolving needs of customers.

Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper is presently managing several logistics infrastructures in 17 prefectures, with plans to expand through Seiyu’s store network and three new fulfilment centres.
As a means to support Japan’s growing online grocery delivery market worth $1.93b (¥277b) in 2022, Rakuten aims to increase the speed and agility of its services for improved viability and optimised resources.
The new company and service name of Rakuten Seiyu Netsuper will change later.
