South Korea’s cosmetic exports surge 20% to $2.3b in Q1

It reflects the country's growing influence in the global beauty market.

South Korea's cosmetic exports increased by over 20% in the first quarter of 2024, reaching an all-time high of $2.3b.

Despite fluctuations in recent years, with a peak in 2021 at $9.22b and a dip in 2022 to $7.98b, South Korea's cosmetics exports rebounded to $8.49b in 2023, as per data by the Korea Customs Service via Yonhap News Agency.

China emerged as the top destination for South Korean cosmetic exports in Q1 2024, with shipments valued at $610m, followed by the United States ($380m), Japan ($240m), and Vietnam ($150m). 

The data also showed that the products were sold to 175 nations during the period.
