Time on shopping apps to reach 26.6 billion hours due to holidays

Data.ai’s figures also showed that this is a 6% increase compared to the past quarter.

Time spent in shopping apps is seen to reach 26.6 billion hours on Android devices in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2023, a 6% jump from the previous quarter, according to data.ai.

In 2022, data.ai saw a small decline in shopping holiday season online as consumers started to flock to brick-and-mortar stores, with the pandemic easing.

“We expect a bit of a bounce back from this year as consumers continue to turn to their phones more than ever before,” said data.ai.

Downloads are expected to increase by nearly 25% to 75.9 million monthly across November and December, 8 million per month more than in the holiday season in 2022.

In Asian markets, such as Singapore, shopping app downloads have continued to increase across iOS and Google Play.

data.ai sees that downloads in Singapore for Q4 will go up 23.2% quarter-over-quarter, bringing the download numbers to 1.17 million.
