Hong Kong’s MTR rolls out rental relief to mall tenants

The amount of support will be based on the individual circumstances of tenants.

Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation will provide a new round of rental relief measures to tenants at all shopping malls, as well as its stations, to help the businesses weather a new wave of pandemic disruptions, the major public transport network said in a press release.

MTR will provide different plans and formats to relieve the pressure on tenants including rental concessions, and special assistance will be provided to tenants of scheduled premises which are required to close under the government’s anti-epidemic regulations.

The actual circumstances of individual sectors and tenants, especially small to medium tenants, will be used for assessing the extent to which a business is affected, the company said.

The corporation has provided rental relief to affected tenants in its shopping malls and stations following the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, it said.
