Deliveroo opens new grocery hub in Tsim Sha Tsui
It aims to meet the rising demand for grocery delivery amongst city professionals.
Deliveroo has launched its newest Hop site in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, its first ground-floor location in the Yau Tsim Mong District.
The expansion aims to meet the growing demand for grocery delivery services amongst city professionals.
Located at G/F, 1-5 Tak Shing Street, Kowloon, the new Hop site will serve Tsim Sha Tsui, Ho Man Tin, Jordan, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon West, and parts of Mongkok, reaching a population of over 300,000.
A recent survey showed that consumers in Yau Tsim Mong spend 21% more on groceries than the average Hong Kong resident.
About 80% of locals have either maintained or increased their grocery spending over the past year. Additionally, 55% expect to use grocery delivery services more frequently in the next year. Popular items include beverages (46%), snacks (36%), personal care products (36%), and instant food (33%).
The Tsim Sha Tsui site will initially offer 1,800 grocery items, with plans to expand to 2,200. This focus aligns with the preferences observed in other Hop locations, where fresh fruits and vegetables are top sellers.
The company’s successful Hop site in Tuen Mun, which has captured 60% of grocery orders since its January launch and experienced an 80% year-on-year increase in orders in the first half of 2024, has fueled Deliveroo's expansion efforts.
The Tsim Sha Tsui Hop site provides rapid grocery delivery in as little as 15 minutes and will operate from 8 AM to 12 AM Monday through Thursday and 8 AM to 1 AM Friday through Sunday.
