Apple Orchard Road opens in Singapore
Tech giant Apple opened its first brick and mortar store in South-east Asia on May 27.
Located along Orchard Road in Singapore, the 36.5-metre glass facade blurs the barrier between inside and out, while 16 interior trees continue the city’s lush greenery throughout the space.
Apple’s Angela Ahrendts, senior vice-president of retail, was present at when doors opened to public at 10 am that day, along with 237 employees.
Architectural highlights of Apple Orchard Road include the twin curved Castagna stone staircases and a unique 7.6-metre canopy that protects the store from tropical sunlight and provides shelter from the rain.
Visitors can look forward to “Today at Apple”, a new programme that includes 60 free hands-on sessions held at The Forum in the store.
The company has declined to respond to media enquiries from Retail Asia.
