Australia's Metcash, Ritchies launch second Supa Valu supermarket

The 3,000 sqm store follows after the first one with a focus on big savings.

Australia-based Metcash and Ritchies Supermarkets have launched the second Supa Valu store, which is located in Ballina, New South Wales, IGD has reported.

The new store is a conversion of an existing SUPA IGA. At 3,000 sqm the store is larger than the first one, but has a very similar design with yellow and black signage, a focus on value and big savings, a large fresh area and wide grocery aisles.

There is also a strong focus on operational efficiency with palate floor stacks, larger aisle ends, a curated range and industrial style shelving, IGD noted.

“The strong focus on fresh food and value will naturally compliment the growth of online grocery and give people a reason to visit these larger format stores,” IGD’s head of insight for Asia Pacific, Nick Miles, said.
