Starbucks Korea employees mull protests over workload
The wave of customers from regular giveaways may have caused complaints amongst staff.
The employees from international coffeehouse chain Starbucks in South Korea are considering staging a protest over complaints of excessive workload, Korea Bizwire reported based on industry sources.
Several Starbucks employees have been communicating via Blind, an anonymous chat app for employed workers and staff, to stage a protest in trucks to demand better working conditions.
Starbucks Korea does not have a labor union, but the discussion among employees appeared to have sparked after the multi-use cup giveaway event held in September, which saw a wave of customers flock to its stores to buy drinks for a free cup.
The company has been holding regular giveaway and promotion events in South Korea, which may have sparked complaints among employees.
