Din Tai Fung to close 14 Beijing outlets
The decision was attributed to licensing issues.
Taiwanese restaurant chain Din Tai Fung has announced the closure of 14 of its Beijing stores by 31 October 2024.
In a statement, Beijing Hengtai Feng Catering said that the decision is due to the expiration of its 20-year business license and the board’s failure to reach a consensus on its renewal.
The stores set to close include the Beijing Yuyang Store, SKP Store, Grand Pacific Store, Parkview Green Store, apm Store, China World Store, Cuiwei Department Store, Golden Resources Store, Tianjin Riverside66 Store, Tianjin Mixc Store, Qingdao Carnival, Hisense Plaza VILLAGE Store, Hisense Plaza Store, Xi'an SKP Store, and Xiamen Paragon Center Store.
Since its establishment in 2004, Beijing Din Tai Fung has grown from a single restaurant into a prominent culinary landmark in multiple cities, earning a reputation for high-quality dining experiences and achieving success in the market.
The company also assured it will properly handle employee severance and placement issues whilst safeguarding the rights of stored value card holders. Additionally, Beijing Din Tai Fung will work closely with its partners to ensure a smooth transition and minimize the impact on all involved parties
