How Isetan Mitsukoshi attracts talentend employees

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings' expansive business portfolio, which includes department stores, real estate, and finance, enabled the company to offer various opportunities and attract "talented students."
During the company's sustainability briefing Akira Kimbara, Managing Executive Officer, CAO, CRO and CHRO, said that they prioritise those who "understand and sympathise" with the company's vision and philosopy.
Kimbara added that it is also important to promote "specialised human resources" to bring forward the "Urban Community Development."
Isetan aims to promote its real estate business, including mid-career employment, Kimbara said, adding that 2% of its managerial-level employees became part of the company in mid-career, mainly in its department store unit.

Meanwhile, Kimbara also said that the ratio of female managers in Isetan Mitsukoshi Ltd. has also reached 27%, and that of the entire Group is 30.6%, making it set a target of female managers to 38% by 2030.
"Originally, about 70% of our company's employees are women, and many of its customers are also women. Therefore, we believe that raising the ratio of female managers is not only a matter of diversity, but also a necessary and important issue in order to properly grasp customers' lifestyles," the managing executive officer said.
Kimbara added that they are promoting parental leave for both male and female employees to support changes in arious life stages and are expanding work-from-home and short-time programmes.
