IKEA unveils the most sustainable store in Japan

The Maebashi store will have the lowest operational climate footprint in the market.

IKEA has opened a new IKEA store in Maebashi in Gunma Prefecture which will be the brand's "most sustainable" store in Japan, thanks to its lowest operational climate footprint.

As the first IKEA store in the north Kanto region and the tenth in Japan, the new store will feature more affordable and sustainable home furnishing solutions, furniture, and services.

“To bring the full IKEA offer to people, we are taking an omnichannel approach to how we can deepen our impact in big urban areas. The goal for our expansion is simple: we will be where people are – whenever and however they want to meet IKEA,” Tolga Öncu, retail manager of Ingka Group, stated.
