Jio-bp to install EV charging, battery swapping stations at Nexus Malls

The charging hubs will be accessible in five malls as part of the first phase of the rollout.

Nexus Malls and Jio-bp, a fuel and mobility venture between Reliance Industries, and bp, have partnered to roll out electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and battery swapping stations across its 17 malls in 13 Indian cities.

In a joint statement, they said the first phase of the 24/7 charging stating for two- and four-wheeler vehicles will be available at Nexus Malls in Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Ahmedabad starting June.

Nexus Malls, which is already logging a 100% business recovery, will also encourage its customers to charge their vehicles at their malls amongst other environment-conscious initiatives to accelerate the adoption of EVs.

Jio-bp is targeting to create an ecosystem “that will benefit the stakeholders in the EV value chain,” the statement read, adding the company constructed and launched two of India’s largest EV charging hubs last year.
