It is also investing in biomass boilers to reduce reliance on coal.

Philippines-based Century Pacific Food is increasing its solar power facility capacity in its largest manufacturing hub in the country by 65% to reach a total capacity of 8.6 megawatts.

The company has invested around $6.8m (PHP380m) in its solar capacity since 2021.

The manufacturing hub sources the majority of its power from a hydroelectric power plant through the grid. As of 2022, over 65% of its power needs were met by renewables.

CNPF is also investing in other sustainable power sources with the commissioning of new biomass boilers which will use coconut shells as biomass fuel, resulting in a 36% reduction in overall coal consumption in its factory.
