US-based Sam’s Club launches first Huizhou store
The store offers sampling activities, free eye and hearing tests, and wine tasting.
US-based retailer Sam’s Club has launched its first store in Huizhou, Guangdong province, its 32nd store in China, IGD reported.
The store carries 4,000 SKUs from different parts of the world, which was selected to suit Chinese consumers’ preferences and taste. Sam’s “single product driven model” is implemented at the new store.
This was based on the concept that each product is to contribute significantly to the whole category sales. By keeping the number of product types low but ordering quantities high, the retailer could secure exclusive products at the best price for its members.
The store also offers many sampling activities as well as live demonstration and cooking classes at Sam’s Kitchen, free eye test at optician centre and free test at hearing aids centre, and wine tasting.
Members of the Huizhou store can also place orders through the Sam APP and avail a one-hour delivery service.
On average, Sam’s Club opens four to five new stores each year in China. At the same time, it is further embedding the omnichannel strategy and rolling out express home delivery services. It is estimated that its store network will reach 40 to 45 by end-2022.
