Jio-bp to provide EV services to Zomato

This will support Zomato’s initiative to run a 100% EV fleet by 2030.

Jio-bp and Zomato entered an agreement that would support the goal of the food delivery app to have a 100% electric vehicle (EV) fleet by 2030.

In a joint statement, they said Jio-bp, a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and bp,  will provide EV mobility services to Zomato, and access to “Jio-bp pulse” branded battery swapping stations for last-mile delivery.

Through the partnership, the partners said EV adoption is expected to accelerate in the fast-growing Indian delivery and transportation segment.

“With high-performance batteries resulting in superior on-road range and with swapping taking just a couple of minutes, battery swapping has become an ideal solution for two and three-wheelers, especially those playing in the last-mile delivery segment,” the statement read.

“Therefore, battery swapping is set to be the primary driver in the electrification of the last mile delivery and passenger segments,” it added.

Jio-bp last year has constructed and launched two of the country’s largest EV charging hubs, whilst the Jio-bp mobile app allows customers to find nearby charging EV stations.
