Australia, South Korea, and India are top markets for inbound duty-free shopping

Duty-free is sales to travellers of goods and products exempt from VAT.

Euromonitor International cited Australia, South Korea, and India as top markets of the highest spending destinations per arrival on inbound duty-free shopping.

The strongest growth in duty-free per arrival is expected in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea, which could be driven by China reopening.

“Levels are already way ahead of pre-pandemic levels in the UAE and Switzerland,” said Euromonitor.

Asia Pacific’s domestic duty-free sales are seen to reach US$81m by 2027.
