Toys”R”Us Asia names new CEO

The appointment of Leo Tsoi took effect on 1 April.

Toys”R”Us Asia’s Board of Directors has appointed Leo Tsoi as the company’s chief executive officer and member of the Board starting on 1 April 2023.

In a statement, Toys”R”Us Asia said Tsoi has over 27 years of consumer retail and business leadership experience in multi-national brands across the region. Before joining the firm, he served as the CEO of Starbucks China and was a member of the Starbucks Global Executive Leadership Team.

Prior to his CEO stint at Starbucks China, he also held other senior roles including president of Retail, COO, CMO, and VP of Store Development & Design. He also held senior positions in Pepsico and Procter & Gamble in Greater China before working with Starbucks.

"Over the course of his career, Leo has distinguished himself as a bold innovator and inspiring leader who has led rapid growth over a diverse range of product portfolios. He has a proven track record not only in operational efficiency, digital transformation and brand management, but also in engaging customers throughout the region," said Toys”R”Us Asia Chairman Drew Nuland.

Tsoi will replace Interim CEO Pieter Schats who will remain a Board member.
